As many as 80 people were publicly executed in North Korea earlier this month, some for offenses as minor as watching South Korean movies or possessing a Bible.

South Korean newspaper JoongAng Ilbo reported that the so-called criminals were put to death in seven cities across North Korea on Nov. 3, in the first known large-scale public executions by the Kim Jong-un regime.

A source, who is familiar with internal affairs in the North and who recently visited the country, told the paper that about 10 people were killed in each city.

Eight people — their heads covered with white bags — were tied to stakes at a local stadium in the city of Wonsan, before authorities shot them with a machine gun, according to the source.

Wonsan authorities gathered a crowd of 10,000 people, including children, at Shinpoong Stadium and forced them to watch the killings.

Men suspected of being white supremacists plead not guilty to weapons, drug charges in Arizona

PHOENIX – Two members of a notorious family that authorities say once tried to set up a whites-only nation in America have pleaded not guilty to weapons and drug charges in Arizona.

Kirby Kehoe and his 37-year-old son, Cheyne, were arrested last month after authorities raided Kirby Kehoe’s 40-acre property near Ash Fork, Ariz., and seized dozens of guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Both men have previous felony convictions and are banned from possessing firearms. They were arraigned Wednesday on multiple charges, including illegally possessing firearms and body armor and intent to distribute marijuana. Trial is set for Jan. 7 in Prescott.

Cheyne Kehoe’s attorney has said his client used a rifle found at his father’s home for target practice and that he has disavowed white supremacy. Kirby Kehoe’s public defender hasn’t returned telephone messages.

3 children who were victims of Texas sex ring taken from foster parents after new abuse claims

HOUSTON – Three children who were victims of a swinger’s club in a small East Texas town have been removed from the custody of their foster parents after accusing their caretakers of physical and emotional abuse, a child welfare official said Wednesday.

A judge in Wood County on Tuesday ordered that the three siblings — a 13-year-old girl, 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl — plus a 17-year-old boy be placed in the temporary custody of Child Protective Services, said Shari Pulliam, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

The siblings had been living with John and Margaret Cantrell, who is the person who had first alerted authorities about the swinger’s club in Mineola, located about 80 miles east of Dallas. The couple had been taking care of the children since 2005. The 17-year-old boy was adopted by the Cantrells.

Sarah King, an attorney for the Cantrells, declined to comment Wednesday. No charges have been filed against the couple.

Toddler given flu shot left severely brain damaged and unable to walk or talk

November 11, 2013

Lachlan Neylan suffered severe brain damage, including seizures and swelling of the brain, known as encephalopathy, after a General Practioner in Australia accidentally administered an adult version of the CSL Fluvax shot in March last year. The version of the vaccine that he was given is currently banned for children under five in Australia.

Stacey and Adrian Neylan, Lachlan’s parents, said that the child’s temperature soared and he began having fits within seven hours after given Fluvax. Lachlan’s father told The Australian that the boy’s doctors thought that their son would not make it through the weekend after the boy collapsed and started having seizures. He also said that before being given the vaccine, their son had been a toddler who walked and talked, but after receiving the vaccine he regressed to being a three month old who could not sit, walk, or use his arms.
