WILLIAMS — The Knights of Columbus will host their first Friday dinner this Friday May 1.
The menu consists of BBQ Chicken, brats, and hamburgers. Entertainment will be provided by Karaoke.
The dinner will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 900 W. Grant Avenue beginning at 6 p.m.
WILLIAMS — The Brown’s Amusement carnival returned to Williams and began setting up Tuesday. The Zipper and other rides along with the Zipline will be available throughout the weekend.
The carnival is set up along Railroad Avenue (Route 66) in the train park across from I-40 Fleet Services and the Goldies Route 66 Diner. The Zipline is in the Visitor Parking lot across the street from Saya’s Gas and Convenience Store.
The carnival opens Thursday April 23 at 5 p.m. and is set to close at 7 p.m. on Saturday the 25th. Advance discount tickets may be purchased at the Williams Visitors Center
WILLIAMS — Bearizona Wildlife Park is excited to offer it’s first ever summer day camp program. Camps will begin June 29 and finish July 3.
Participants are provided opportunities to learn about the North American Model of Conservation, recycling in nature, amazing animal adaptations and preserving wildlife for the future. Each day features hands-on animal encounters and fully integrates science, physical activity, and creative arts.

WILLIAMS — The annual Kite Festival will be held on April 25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cureton Park. Free food and kites will be available as well as the bounce house and other games.

Ian Tabeling told me he stocked Santa Fe and was there to stock the Buckskinner reservoir—to the delight of the anglers waiting for a bite. His partner was stocking White Horse, he said.
This is welcome news for anglers who have been trying with no success since the reservoirs were lowered because of recent drought conditions.

BIG SPRING, Tx — An official briefing of the City Council of Big Spring surfaced on YouTube that sheds new light on the upcoming operation called Jade Helm 15. The briefing was conducted by Tom Mead, a contractor working for the United States Special Operations Command and planner and exercise designer for the Jade Helm Project. Mead explained that the purpose of the meeting was to obtain permission from the city officials. The video is edited greatly, but the portions remaining raise many questions.

We are seeking written invitation and approval from local officials to conduct a realistic military training exercise within the jurisdiction of the City of Big Spring.
We’re not training for Afghanistan and Iraq—the things that we’ve done in the last fifteen years. We’re looking forward and we want to make sure these guys are trained properly.
He explained that the operation would be ongoing for five- to five-and-a-half weeks. The eight week time period would include time to prepare for the exercise in Florida and Mississippi. He also said that Texas would see the bulk of the exercise.
Mead explained that they would be asking for civilian participation.
We look for people who are willing to transport our guys, because they have to move around in a clandestine manner. For example, in the back of a horse trailer in the middle of the night so nobody can see them. These are ways they have to operate in foreign countries when they’re not supposed to be in those countries.

Mead: Yes, Sir, so, um, the Jade Helm project is a new project that has come along from General Cleveland, uh, from his staff at United States Army Special Operations Command. … Um, this operation is planned to be conducted yearly.
We conduct an exercise that’s similar to this. I say similar because the scope and the breadth of the exercise is nowhere comparable to what we do here. But they conduct that exercise six times a year in North Carolina.COUNCILMAN: I just have to ask, how does FBI and DEA work with the military on an operation like this?
MEAD: Well, generally speaking, Sir, the FBI and DEA provide us liaison officers up at our command level, depending on how the scenarios written. The operation that he refers to in North Carolina is probably Robin Sage. [Wikipedia] Robin Sage, however, is a confined exercise giving special forces groups specific scenarios, such as rescuing downed pilots. It does not include rounding up people and carting them off.
From the video, we derive that the operation is a new design to train troops to go into countries where they are not supposed to be. They are training to get rides from the local populace in the back of wagons. They will drive around in civilian vehicles without being noticed even though they are supposed to be wearing arm bands during the operation.

GRAND CANYON – The Grand Canyon will be be offering fee-free weekend on Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19 in honor of the start of National Parks Week. All national parks are offering free entry this weekend.
Grand Canyon’s South Rim sits at approximately 7,000 feet. As a result, visitors should be prepared for winter weather and driving conditions, and should be aware that road closures and temporary suspension of shuttle service may occur with little or no notice if winter weather passes through the area.
Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
WILLIAMS — Restrictions will be in place beginning Monday, April 13 on a section of State Route 66 between Bearizona Boulevard and Pine Street in Williams as ADOT crews begin construction on a roadway improvement project on behalf of the city.
The work will be conducted during daylight hours only and is anticipated to be completed by early summer. The roadway improvement consists of milling and replacing the existing pavement, applying new roadway surface sealant, striping and markers, and is scheduled weekly from Monday-Friday during daylight hours only. No weekend or holiday work is anticipated.
During construction, traffic may be reduced to one lane of travel, with flaggers in place. Drivers can expect delays and are recommended to allow for extra travel time while construction is underway. Access for businesses and adjacent properties will be maintained at all times during the roadway construction.
