New excuse: My dog kept me awake all night
PHOENIX – Along with the dog ate my homework, kids can now add the dog slept with me as an excuse why they are late for school. The Mayo Clinic in Phoenix conducted a study of sleep deprivation and claim a link to owners allowing pets to sleep with them. Some scientist warn of Zoonoses, or the transmission of disease from pets to owners from allowing pets to sleep in beds.
Web MD says 53% were disturbed by pet bedroom sharing. Medical Daily claims 63% have some sleep deprivation by sharing bed with a pet.
More than half of pet owners (54%) said they shared their bed or bedroom with their dog (58%) or cat (42%) Sowjanya Duthuluru, MD told MedScape. He said that is “quite a lot.” The Web MD site also cites:
Sleeping with pets isn’t unusual in this country. According to a recent survey of pet owners by the American Pet Products Association, nearly half of dogs sleep in their owner’s beds. The survey found that 62% of small dogs, 41% of medium-sized dogs and 32% of large dogs sleep with their owners.
Several stories quote Lois Krahn, M.D., Mayo Clinic psychiatrist and author of the study.
“The study determined that while the majority of patients did not view their pets intolerably disturbing their sleep, a higher percentage of patients experienced irritation — this may be related to the larger number of households with multiple pets. When people have these kinds of sleep problems, sleep specialists should ask about companion animals and help patients think about ways to optimize their sleep.”
She also noted:
According to the document “Zoonoses in the Bedroom” by Bruno B. Chomel and Ben Sun (PDF)—which is not the title of the latest hot adult novel—transmission of disease from pets to human can occur from kissing animals on the mouth and sleeping with them. Particularly flea and tick infested animals.“One patient owned a parrot who consistently squawked at 6 a.m. He must have thought he was a rooster.”
During a 1974 outbreak of plague in New Mexico, USA, 7 cases of bubonic plague were investigated. One patient noticed flea bites the morning after he allowed his flea-infested cat to share his bed. Similarly, in a series of 23 cases of plague related to cat exposure, a 9-year-old boy from Arizona had handled and slept with a sick cat. Another case, which occurred in 1983 in New Mexico, was likely acquired after indoor/outdoor cats slept with the patient.
Listening to Ted Nugent is not the only way to contract Cat-Scratch Fever. The document stated that cat-scratch disease can be transmitted in the bedroom.
Cat-scratch disease is mainly transmitted to humans when they are scratched by a cat that harbors Bartonella henselae–infected fleas and flea feces. However, a few documented cases have been associated with sleeping or being licked by a household pet.
The report admits that zoonotic infections acquired by sleeping with a pet are uncommon and more cases of disease transmission are caused by kissing animals.
However, severe cases of C. canimorsus infection or plague in humans have been documented. More zoonotic agents that are transmitted by kissing a pet or being licked by a pet have been identified, especially zoonotic pathogens that are commensal in the oral cavity of carnivores, such as Pasteurella spp. and C. canimorsus.
The document recommends the common sense step regular veterinary visits. Immediate steps should be taken to rid pets of flea and tick infestations.
So the lesson here is that instead of telling the little dog to move over because A new dog’s movin’ in, you should just kick him out. Then spray the dog house.
Nighty-night.

Gosnell movie gets amazing funding via Indeggo.
UPDATED: 4/30/14, 9:28
Donald Sterling is now a household name. He is the Clippers owner who allegedly made distasteful racist remarks and is well-known for his donations to Democratic candidates and causes. His remarks, released by TMZ, have received massive media coverage. He was recently barred, apparently, from the NBA.
Kermit Gosnell is probably not a name known except to a select few. He was an abortion doctor in Philadelphia who delivered live babies and killed them by severing their spinal cord with scissors. He called the process “snipping.” He is not the only one at his clinic that conducted this process. It is alleged that sometimes his nursing staff and even administrative staff would conduct the snipping. It is unknown how many babies he snipped because he destroyed many of the records. He was only accused and convicted of a few of the murders and is now serving several life sentences.
The story of the Gosnell trial is not the trial itself, but the lack of coverage of the trial. CNN has become known as the missing plane network and all media outlets have donated various amounts of time to the Donald Sterling story. The benches reserved for the media at the Gosnell trial, however, were virtually empty. PBS and Associated Press did cover the trial and did a good report on the trial.
Spike Lee is also a household name. He is a movie producer who has produced some pretty good movies—including Malcom X—and made millions. His campaign on KICKSTARTER is making headlines for raising over $1.4M of $1.25M requested for his new movie which is apparently a thriller about vampires. There are no details about the movie on the site because it is a thriller. This so-called “crowdfunding” campaign has been covered by the various mainstream media agencies.
Phelim Mcaleer is not a household name either. He is a documentary producer who has three titles to date. His conservative documentaries are the ire of the “progressive” movement. Especially Not Evil Just Wrong which is an anti-global warming movie. It screened across the nation, but did not receive the press of other award winning documentary makers who support the progressive agenda.
The media also did not cover the amazing crowdfunding for Mcaleer’s latest effort through Indegogo. The movie Gosnell and is the story of the abortion doctor aforementioned. The campaign started on March 28 and has raised over $1.5M of the $2.1M sought. The movie is breaking records for funding through the web site.
The movie is being made for television so it is questionable what networks would run a film contrary to the present agenda.

Montana Congressional candidate shoots down a drone.
MONTANA – Congressional candidate Matt Rosendale shoots down a drone in his campaign ad. Just to prove a point.
Whether or not it garners him any votes, it certainly might resonate in the western States on the heels of the Bundy Ranch incident in Nevada. The incident brought out militia members from around the country alongside citizens and legislators from various States. The rock band Madison Rising appeared to perform at the site.
The action caused a Legislative Summit on the Transfer of Public Lands in Salt Lake City which included at least nine western States.
Drones have been a sore point since they have been appearing as part of the surveillance network and was used to kill an American citizen overseas.

Shame on Subaru of Wichita
Wichita, Kansas – Subaru of Wichita should be ashamed for having such unbeatable prices.
The Subaru dealer of Wichita responded to a protest sign of the Carpenters Local 201 with a sign of their own. Scott Pitman posted their take on the protest on their blog. The dispute apparently started earlier this month over some construction on their site.

BREAKING NEWS: Democrats release video showing that Cory Booker could drive to Hawaii
During the Democratic global warming all-nighter, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker spoke about “the only trip he ever took” (so as not to add to the global warming problem) after getting his license was a trip to Hawaii. Needless to say the statement is making the rounds of the Internet including FOX News which quote IJReview:
Cory Booker actually begins to muse nostalgically about first getting his driver’s license as a teen in New Jersey. His eyes turn misty as he remembers the “only trip” he ever took was to drive to Hawaii, and it was a beautiful – wait, what?!
Listen, I’m no Christopher Columbus, but I’m pretty sure even Magellan couldn’t traipse his way from Jersey to the island paradise of Hawaii in a car. Mostly because he probably couldn’t drive a car, but also because there’s more than 2,000 miles of ocean between Hawaii and the U.S. mainland!
Democrats are fighting back by releasing this video advocating positive proof that Senator Booker could drive to Hawaii.
