NEARLY $530,000 AWARDED TO AZDPS BY THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY FOR TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT AND EQUIPMENT

Phoenix — The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) has been awarded over $527,000 in grant funding from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The grants will help with overtime costs for troopers during driving under the influence (DUI) enforcement details, targeted distracted driving enforcement operations, seatbelt enforcement details, collision reduction details, and the street racing task force. The grant funding will also support overtime staffing in Operational Communications and the State Crime Laboratory.

Funds will also be directed to the training of additional Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) and will also allow for the purchase of Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) speed measurement devices and other speed measuring radars to be used for traffic enforcement by troopers.

GOHS has allocated grant funds in support of these programs:

  • $40,000 for seatbelt enforcement details
  • $100,000 for DUI enforcement
  • $30,000 for distracted driving enforcement
  • $152,369 for STEP speed enforcement and equipment
  • $30,000 for the Street Racing Task Force
  • $70,000 in overtime funding for the state crime lab
  • $15,000 for dispatch support for DUI & street racing enforcement
  • $90,000 for DRE training, materials & supplies

“Speed, impaired driving, aggressive driving, and seatbelt usage continue to be the leading causes of serious injury and fatal collisions,” said Lieutenant Colonel Deston Coleman Jr., Assistant Director of the Highway Patrol Division at AZDPS. “Thanks to the continued support of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, state troopers will be able to increase enforcement and make the roadways safer for the motoring public.”

Missouri man shot after threatening officers with a screwdriver

FLAGSTAFF — At 0530 on September 7th, there was an Officer involved shooting at the intersection of North Highway 89 and Cummings Street. The shooting resulted in the death of one adult male who was identified as 51-year-old Donald Wayne Henry of Missouri.

The Flagstaff Police responded to a call of a male subject breaking a gas station window and entering the business taking items from the store. At the same time the Sheriff’s Office received a call for a subject threatening to stab people with a knife in the same area at a nearby business.

When the FPD Officer arrived, he contacted the man in the middle of the intersection. The male subject produced a screwdriver and advanced towards the officer in a threatening manner. The officer drew his Taser and the male then fled on foot.

CCSO Deputies arrived and assisted the Officer. The man refused multiple commands to stop and to drop the screwdriver. He fled from the officers and ran across the road. The Officer and Deputies followed him and surrounded him. More verbal commands were given, which the man refused to comply with.

The male once again brandished the screwdriver and threatened the Deputy by charging towards him. The Deputy ultimately had to resort to deadly force to stop the threat as he was being charged. The FPD Officer fired his Taser at the same time the shots were fired by the Deputy.

Body camera footage and still photos have been uploaded to the FPD Transparency webpage at: https://fpdtransparency.com.

Politicized photo released by DOJ

Across the Internet, the rabid anti-Trump media are touting this photo released by the “Department of Justice” of the Mar-a-Lago raid. This photo is not available on the DOJ or FBI web site. Thus it was release directly to anti-Trump outlets that would do exactly what the FBI knew they would do. None of these outlets, of course, noted the problems with this photo.

The first thing is that anyone who has had even a passing acquaintance with service in the National Government knows that cover sheets, themselves, are unclassified. The President-elect Trump could take tons of those home and wall paper his bathroom with them. I would, of course, blast him for using tax payer paid paper for such a purpose. Since he gave his salary to charity, however, I suppose we could forgive even this. Even the rabid media had to grudgingly admit that Donald Trump was the ONLY President in history that left the office with less wealth than when he went in.

Second, they show alleged documents laying out with other papers laying over them. Kind of like the transparent affidavit released. The title of these “documents” cannot be read, thus we do not know what they are. They could be the laundry lists of Melania Trump. If these were “nuclear secrets,” they would not be single-paged documents as shown in the photo.

Third, if they are “nuclear secrets,” or pretty much any other secrets, they are almost certainly need-to-know documents. Any agent opening those documents and looking at them as well as the photographer taking the photos are in violation of the law and guilty of a felony.

The most important thing that the media did not point out about the photo is that it is another attempt of the Biden administration to stop any MAGA candidate from winning offices across the country. It is also an attempt to divert attention from the Hunter Biden laptop.

The FBI, further, says it will “with hold” any charges until after mid-term elections. This is the same reason they told Facebook to stop posts about the Hunter Biden laptop because it would influence the election. If they released the fact that they HAVE NO charges against Donald Trump, can you imagine the repercussions? They can.

In-Custody Inmate Death-Apparent Suicide

FLAGSTAFF – On Monday July 4th at approximately 7:51 AM, while conducting a security and welfare check, a Sergeant discovered an inmate hanging by a bed sheet which was tied around the neck and tied to the ladder attached to the bunk in the cell. The Sergeant immediately called for additional staff for assistance and began Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other lifesaving measures. Additionally, they requested a response of Emergency Medical Services. CPR was conducted by staff until personnel from Guardian Medical Transport and the Flagstaff Fire Department arrived and took over lifesaving efforts. Emergency medical personnel performed CPR until 8:26 AM, at which time, the individual was declared deceased.

The individual has been identified as Clayton James Thornburg, 36, of Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Thornburg was housed in a cell by himself. Mr. Thornburg was not on suicide watch at the time. At this time no foul play is suspected and it appears that Mr. Thornburg died by apparent suicide.

Mr. Thornburg had been arrested on June 25, 2022 by the Williams Police Department and currently being held on a Felony charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Dangerous Instrument with a $15,000 bond. He also was being held on three Felony Warrants out of Maricopa County.

The death is currently under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and pending autopsy and review by the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
