AzCDL Gun raffle and 2nd Amendment rally at State Capitol

G34AzCDL is raffling off three Glock Model 34, Gen 4, long slide, 9mm pistols tricked out with extended controls, 4.5# triggers and reversible magazine releases. Each pistol comes with two 17 round magazines. Glock’s Model 34 uses the same magazines as the Model 17.

Each ticket represents THREE chances to win. Only 900 tickets were printed. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at AzCDL’s online store.

The drawing is only a few weeks away on Sunday, March 6. Because we have been so focused on the Legislative session we have been delayed in getting the word out about this great raffle. We have plenty of tickets left. We may not be able to sell them all. That means the odds of you winning could be pretty darn good. At the moment everyone who already bought a ticket has about a 50 to 1 chance of winning a spiffy new Glock. Get your tickets today!

Winners do not have to be present for the drawing. However, winners must comply with all federal, state, and local laws, and must pick up the firearms from a federally licensed (FFL) firearms dealer. If a winner does not qualify for the possession of these firearms, their ticket is invalid and a new winner will be drawn.

AzCDL is self-funded and fiercely independent. We are beholden to no political party. No outsiders, no sugar daddies, no corporate string pullers, no national organizations, and no New York billionaires. We do not flood your mailbox or email in-box with “the sky is falling, send money” messages like many other organizations. Raffles are our fundraisers. Help support AzCDL – buy raffle tickets!

2A Rally – Saturday

Gun Rights Across America (GRAA) and Riders USA have teamed up for a rally supporting the Second Amendment this coming Saturday, February 20 at the Arizona State Capitol between Noon and 2 PM. AzCDL’s president, Dave Kopp, has been invited to speak at the rally. More information can be found on this Facebook page and at Riders USA’s website. You can also email Mike Sullivan at Riders USA for more information.

Arizona Citizens Defense League announces winners

ACDLlogo3Congratulations to Linda, Larry, Pat and Dean who purchased the winning tickets for the raffle sponsored by the Arizona Citizens Defense League. The drawing was held on June 14.

The raffle, which benefits the pro-Second Amendment activities of the AzCDL, was for a custom AR-15 pistol built by Forward Operating Base in Phoenix Arizona (Yelp). The AzCDL logo is laser etched on each pistol.

The Arizona Citizens Defense League is already working on their next raffle for four Ruger LC9 9mm semi-auto handguns. Only 1000 tickets will be sold and they may be obtained at the AzCDL tables at gun shows and at the online store of the AzCDL.

The AzCDL Independence Day rifle match is already sold out.

Arizona Citizens Defense League expands raffle opportunities

2015ARPistol1bARIZONA —– The Arizona Citizens Defense League, responsible for many positive gun laws enacted in Arizona, initially held a raffle for two custom-made AR-15 pistols. Online demand for the tickets was so huge that half of the tickets were sold in two days. They reported in an e-mail that they had to pull tickets that were reserved for an upcoming gun show to meet the demand.

AzCDL has ordered two more of the custom-built AR-15 pistols built by Forward Operating Base in Phoenix, Arizona. The AzCDL logo is laser etched on the lower of each pistol. The pistols are chambered for the 5.56 NATO round and include the following features:

  • SigTac stabilizing arm brace (SB 15)
  • Quentin Defense Billet ambidextrous lower receiver, slick side upper receiver and 3 pound trigger
  • Ambidextrous safety selector
  • QD rear takedown pin with swivel
  • Ambidextrous sling attachment end plate
  • GunTec rubber pistol grip and back up iron sights
  • 7” Veriforce match grade billet stainless steel barrel with cone flash can muzzle device
  • 10” Key-Mod free float rail
  • 550 cord 2 point to 1 point convertible sling
  • Magpul 30 round window magazine

What this means is that the AzCDL is now holding two concurrent raffles for four of the AR-15 pistols. Each ticket is only $10 and represents two chances of winning one of the AR-15 handguns. Only 900 tickets will be sold for each raffle.

Winners must comply with all federal, state, and local laws, and must pick up the firearms from a federally licensed (FFL) firearms dealer. If a winner does not qualify for the possession of these firearms, their ticket is invalid and a new winner will be drawn.

You can order tickets, books, memberships and other items from the AzCDL online store.

HB 2320 and HB 2431 Stalled in House

axcdl_logoContact House Leadership!
Commentary by Arizona Citizens Defense League

PHOENIX — The House Leadership has sidelined two AzCDL-requested bills, HB 2320 and HB 2431. If they cannot meet the March 20 deadline to be heard in Senate committees, they are effectively dead for the session.

HB 2320, which would exempt CCW permit holders from being disarmed when entering state and local government property unless every person entering is screened for weapons, only needs a Third Read floor vote to proceed to the Senate.

HB 2431, which would establish an interstate compact that restricts member states from enacting firearms transfer requirements greater than existing federal law, needs both a House Committee of the Whole (COW) hearing, currently scheduled for March 9, and a Third Read vote to proceed.

It’s time to urge the House Leadership to schedule HB 2320 and HB 2431 for Third Read votes before it’s too late.

Tucson councilman wants to give police more excuses to confiscate guns.

Re: “Cops need more gun seizure power, Koz says…” In the Arizona Daily Star.

ACDLlogo3One of the most regrettable phrases in the English Language, is, “there ought to be a law…”

How regrettable it is that sitting elected officials don’t look up our current law, before suggesting changes in it. Some supposed “emergency,” instead becomes the vapid excuse for more suppression of civil rights. That’s called bigotry, Councilman Kozachik. It wasn’t cool when we did it to Blacks, and it is no more cool to do it to the next minority down the line.

Councilman Kozachik claims to want a “legal opinion” before he proposes an ordinance. He does not need one. All he need do is read ARS 13-3108. In a nutshell, 3108 makes the state the controlling legal authority in terms of firearm regulation. Political subdivisions (cities, counties, boards, districts) cannot enforce restrictions more stringent than state law. See for yourself, at:
http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/13/03108.htm&Title=13&DocType=ARS

If state law does not authorize it, the city cannot do it. Preemption makes firearms laws equal, from Window Rock to Steins. The Arizona Citizens Defense League asks Councilman Kozachik to take what the courts call “legal notice,” of the law.

“Preemption” was strengthened at the urging of The Arizona Citizens Defense League in 2010, specifically to prevent the ideas of people like Councilman Kozachik, from ever burdening the rights of the people of Arizona, again. This was especially true in the wake of the Rineer vs. Tucson case. http://caselaw.findlaw.com/az-court-of-appeals/1447762.html. In that case, Ken Rineer’s rights were not deemed to have been violated by the city ignoring state law, “he need merely have walked around Himmel Park, rather than in it.” Yes, yes, all the animals are equal, just some are “more equal” than others….

This year AzCDL may request an addendum to that law, known as the “this means you, Steve,” clause.

Had Councilman Kozachik done slightly more due diligence, he would have discovered that state law already contains the ability of a law enforcement officer to force psychological evaluation on a person who may be a danger to himself or others, in ARS 36-520 through 526.

Really, councilman, it’s online. You can look it up for yourself at: http://www.azleg.gov/ArizonaRevisedStatutes.asp?Title=36. If a person is judged incompetent by a court, there is already a lawful process to remove his guns. We don’t need any more, sir. Causing a person to prove that he is not crazy, in order to exercise a fundamental right, Councilman Kozachik, amounts to “guilty until proven innocent.”

As Dennis Prager says, “the larger the government, the smaller the citizen.” We do not need any “smaller” citizens, Mr. Kozachik, we need better “hired help” at the City Council. That starts with those who first concern themselves with Article 2, Section 2 of the Arizona Constitution:

“Political power; purpose of government: “All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights.“

Councilman, you swore an oath to uphold that Constitution. If there is any new law needed, it is a criminal penalty for those elected officials who disobey said oath. Failing that, Ace Hardware is running it’s “tar and feathers special,” and I’m sure the RKBA community would gladly chip in to color match it to your bicycle.

The greatest blessing you could give this community, Councilman Kozachik, is the descending Doppler sound of your bicycle bell.
