Kelly-Lynn Moede took the helm of the event this year. She and her volunteers did a good job of setting up the event. The American Legion Cordova Post #13 ran the barbecue pit, again, distributing cheeseburgers and hot dogs for the volunteers after the clean up. APS provided trash bags for the volunteers to use.
This year they added a You Found What? game for an extra prize along with the regular eggs with cash prizes. Of course it was the individual and service group volunteers that loaded the sixteen-tons of garbage in the bins to be sent to the transfer station.Tag Archives: Clean and Beautiful

WILLIAMS — The Williams Clean and Beautiful campaign seemed to do better this year though they went up against the opening of the Williams little league baseball season.
Still there were a few more bags lining the streets, this year, and a number of residents took advantage of the extra waste and electronics recycle dump at the Williams transfer station and Rodeo Barn.
After picking up, the workers enjoyed a lunch provided by the members of the American Legion Cordova Post #13.

Both activities are generally scheduled just after Easter and the day is normally warm and sunny. This is the first time that it has dampened the plans for Clean and Beautiful.
The weather started about 2 am with rain turning into snow in the morning. Visibility dropped to about 100 yards, but some people still took advantage of the electronics waste disposal sponsored by the City of Williams at the rodeo barn.
The visibility increased later in the morning, but snow continued to fall. The weather service predicts the snow to continue in Williams and Flagstaff through the night clearing by tomorrow morning. 1-3 inches of snow accumulation is expected. Temperatures should rise to the 70s by next Saturday.
The weather was enough to kill events and the gardens people may have planted, but not enough to make up for the loss of snow over the winter months.

Safeway was collecting bags returned to the store for recycling. They can, also, be used in some trash containers as alternative trash bags or used to clean up after your pets when walking them as required by city ordinance.
For smoking visitors or residence, the Williams Chamber located in the Williams Visitor Center offers pocket ash trays which can be used while walking through town. They are safer than dropping your cigarette butts into a trash can and can be disposed of later.
In addition residents can dispose of spent electronics at the dump located on Rodeo Road next to the Rodeo grounds. Residents have a week after to dump yard trash for free. They can also call the city to get rid of one used appliance.
