Overnight work continues on Interstate 17 south of Camp Verde

Overnight work on Interstate 17 continues in both directions as part of a repaving project on a 12-mile segment between State Route 169 and the Middle Verde Road traffic interchange just south of Camp Verde (mileposts 279 to 291).

Crews are working this week on the barrier at the Middle Verde traffic interchange above I-17 and the roadway will be narrowed to one lane through the work zone between mileposts 289 and 290.

Intermittent shoulder closures are expected for miscellaneous work. Minimal delays are expected. Work hours are Monday through Thursday between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

This $7.5 million project consists of the removal of a layer of the existing pavement, repaving the roadway, bridge work and shoulder improvements. Work is expected to be complete by the end of September.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

Overhead sign installation continues on westbound I-40 east of I-17 Junction in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF — The Arizona Department of Transportation continues work to install an overhead electronic message sign on westbound Interstate 40 (milepost 197), just east of the I-17 junction south of Flagstaff.

Electronic message signs span the width of the freeway and are used by ADOT to help keep drivers informed of traffic, road and weather conditions.

Monday (Aug. 31) through Wednesday (Sept. 2), westbound I-40 will be narrowed to one lane (milepost 197) while crews continue work on an overhead electronic message sign. Work will take place daily from 6 a.m. to noon. Please observe reduced speeds and exercise caution while traveling through the work zone.

Lane restrictions on northbound Interstate 17 this week for shoulder work

The Arizona Department of Transportation will perform routine maintenance on northbound Interstate 17 at Table Mesa Road on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28 and 29 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Motorists should be prepared for a right lane restriction and intermittent shoulder closures between mileposts 236 and 237 to allow for a safe work zone for maintenance crews. Minimal delays are expected.

The speed limit through the work zones will be reduced to 45 mph during work hours.

CAMP VERDE — Overnight paving work will continue this week on Interstate 17 just south of Camp Verde (mileposts 280 to 286) between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting tonight, July 6 through Wednesday, July 15.

Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane at milepost 280, approximately one and half miles north of the State Route 169 junction and drivers will be guided through the work zone with a pilot car for the protection of workers and the traveling public. Delays of up to 15 minutes are expected.

Work hours are Sunday through Thursday between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

This $7.5 million project consists of the removal of a layer of the existing pavement, repaving the roadway, bridge work and shoulder improvements. Work is expected to be complete by September.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

CAMP VERDE — Overnight paving work continues this week on Interstate 17 just south of Camp Verde (mileposts 280 to 286) between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Wednesday, June 24 through July 9.

Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane and drivers will be guided through the work zone with a pilot car for the protection of workers and the traveling public. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected.

Crews will not work on Thursday, July 2 or Sunday, July 5 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

This $7.5 million project consists of the removal of a layer of the existing pavement, repaving the roadway, bridge work and shoulder improvements. Work is expected to be complete by September.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

Work scheduled on I-17 near McGuireville rest area this week

Maintenance work will resume at the McGuireville rest area on Interstate 17 this week, Tuesday and Wednesday, June 23 and 24, approximately two miles south of the State Route 179 junction (mileposts 294 to 299).

Drivers can expect a single lane restriction in both directions during work hours from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Minimal delays expected.

The rest areas will remain open.

Lane restrictions on Interstate 17 tomorrow for pavement work

The Arizona Department of Transportation will perform routine pavement maintenance on Interstate 17 between New River and the Bloody Basin traffic interchange (mileposts 235 to 258) tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23 between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Motorists should be prepared for alternating lane restrictions and intermittent shoulder closures between mileposts 235 and 258 to provide a safe work zone for maintenance crews. Minimal delays are expected.

The speed limit through the work zones will be reduced to 45 mph during work hours.

Interstate 17 travel at JW Powell to have restrictions in place beginning Monday June 8

FLAGSTAFF — Motorists headed to the Flagstaff Airport, Fort Tuthill County Park, and to SR 89A from I-17 will need to be aware of a traffic restriction that prevents travel across JW Powell Boulevard beginning early morning on Monday, June 8.  This restriction will be in place continuously until early July while work is being performed at the tie-in and on the ramp for the new eastern roundabout.

Recommended detours as follows:

  • Travel for southbound I-17 connections to the Flagstaff Airport can be accommodated by continuing to Exit 333 (Kachina Blvd/Mountainaire Road) and then travel back northbound to Exit 337.
  • Travel from the Flagstaff Airport returning to southbound I-17 can be accommodated by traveling northbound on I-17 to Exit 339 (Lake Mary Road) and following detour signage to return to the interstate.
  • Travel for northbound traffic on I-17 needing to connect to SR 89A and Fort Tuthill County Park can be accommodated by continuing to Exit 339 (Lake Mary Road) then access to SR 89A at the intersection.
  • Travel for northbound traffic on SR89A or from Fort Tuthill County Park  needing to connect to I-17 can be accommodated by continuing north on SR89A/Beulah Blvd to McConnell Drive then access to I-17.
  • Detour signage will be in place to assist travel in the area.

This phase of construction is part of a project begun June 2014 and will facilitate the flow of traffic through the area, and is designed to meet current and future traffic demand. This project is anticipated to be completed by late summer 2015.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. Please allow additional time to accommodate for your destinations while the detours are in place.

CAMP VERDE — Work continues next week on a repaving project on a 12-mile segment of Interstate 17 between State Route 169 and Middle Verde Road traffic interchange (mileposts 279 to 291).

Crews will be resurfacing the off and on-ramps at Middle Verde Road (milepost 290), and the following restrictions have been scheduled:

  • The northbound I-17 off-ramp will be closed on Sunday, June 7
  • The northbound on-ramp to I-17 will be closed on Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9
  • One lane restriction northbound I-17 on Wednesday and Thursday, June 10 and 11 between Middle Verde Road and the McGuireville traffic interchange (milepost 290 to 292)
  • Drivers are encouraged to use the next exit as an alternate during work hours

Work hours are Sunday through Thursday nights between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

Paving project on Interstate 17 between SR 169 and Middle Verde Road continues

The Arizona Department of Transportation continues work next week on a project to repave a 12-mile segment of Interstate 17 between State Route 169 and the Middle Verde Road traffic interchange (mileposts 279 to 291).

Crews will be resurfacing the off-and-on ramps at the General Crook Trail traffic interchange Sunday, May 17 through Thursday, May 21 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night.
In order to provide a safe work zone the following restrictions at General Crook Trail have been scheduled:

  • The northbound I-17 off-ramp will be closed on Monday, May 18
  • The northbound on-ramp to I-17 will be closed on Tuesday, May 19
  • The southbound I-17 off-ramp will be closed on Wednesday, May 20
  • The southbound on-ramp to I-17 will be closed on Thursday, May 21
  • Drivers are encouraged to use the next exit as an alternate during work hours
