Maintenance work tomorrow on SR 169 near the Interstate 17 traffic interchange

Maintenance work along a segment of State Route 169 near the Interstate 17 traffic interchange (mileposts 14-15) tomorrow between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. will require a lane closure, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Traffic will be narrowed to one lane through the work zone for approximately one mile = and traffic will be directed through the work zone in alternating directions. Drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

Lane restrictions on Interstate 17 next week for routine maintenance work

The Arizona Department of Transportation has scheduled routine maintenance work on Interstate 17 next week, in both directions, from Table Mesa Road to just south of State Route 169.

Work hours are Monday, Jan. 12 through Wednesday, Jan. 14 between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Crews will work in three-mile segments between mileposts 235 and 277 that will require alternating lane restrictions in both directions and intermittent shoulder closures during work hours to provide a safe work zone for maintenance crews. No delays are expected.

The speed limit through the work zones will be reduced to 45 mph during work hours. Arizona Revised Statute provides for double-fines for speeding through a highway construction zone.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. Southbound Interstate 17 north of Rock Springs closed for up to 20 minutes on Wednesday

Motorists traveling on southbound Interstate 17 on Wednesday morning, Dec. 17 need to be are aware of a brief closure scheduled between Rock Springs and Table Mesa Road that allow crews to remove rock fall debris along the shoulders of the highway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

A five-mile segment (mileposts 237 to 242) of southbound I-17 will be closed for up to 20 minutes between 9:30 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. to provide a safe work zone for crews to remove debris from the roadway. Motorists are urged to plan accordingly or allow extra travel time. Northbound traffic will not be affected.

In addition to the full southbound closure, a right lane closure will be in place between 8:30 a.m. and noon between mileposts 237-238 for shoulder clean up. Minimal delays expected.

The speed limit through the work zones will be reduced to 45 mph during work hours.

I-17 southbound exit 337 (Flagstaff Pulliam Airport Exit) to be temporarily closed just south of Flagstaff for three hours

FLAGSTAFF – Access to Exit 337 which accommodates I-17 Southbound travel to the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, and access to Sedona via SR 89A will require a temporary full ramp closure this coming Friday, Dec. 12 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. This closure is necessary to accommodate the removal of concrete barriers on the ramp.

Southbound traffic can still travel to the Airport and to Sedona via SR 89A (Beulah Blvd.) from the City of Flagstaff or may instead continue on I-17 southbound to Exit 333, then travel back north up to Exit 337.

The temporary closure will be completed Friday morning with no additional closures anticipated. Please allow for extra travel time during the scheduled ramp closure, and drive with caution in the project vicinity.

Final pavement work on Interstate 17 south of SR 169 for the next two weeks

The final phase of the project to repave Interstate 17 between Dugas/Orme Road and State Route 169 is scheduled 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 through Thursday, Nov. 13.

Workers will install pavement markers on I-17 in both directions for the next two weeks and will restripe the SR 169 traffic interchange on Monday, Nov. 10.

Drivers can expect alternating lane restrictions in both directions and a 12 foot width-restriction through the work zone for the next two weeks. Minimal delays expected.

I-17 southbound ramp to be closed at JW Powell Boulevard

FLAGSTAFF – Access to the I-17 southbound off-ramp at Exit 337 (JW Powell Boulevard) will be closed from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, to complete preparations for new ramp construction. This work is part of the intersection improvement project currently underway which includes a new roundabout and realignment of SR 89A/Beulah Boulevard.

The recommended detour for southbound I-17 connections to the Flagstaff Airport and to SR 89A is to continue southbound on I-17 past Exit 337, then exit at Kachina Trail/Mountainaire Road (Exit 333). Detour signage will be in place to assist travel in the area.

Pavement Markings to be replaced on I-17 just north of SR 179 Junction beginning Columbus Day

adot-logo3One lane for northbound traffic on I-17 will be temporarily closed with reduced travel speeds for a three mile segment just north of the SR 179 junction beginning Monday, Oct. 13. The lane reduction is required to allow for removal and installation of new pavement markers which provide greater visibility during weather events and are more durable under heavy traffic.

The marking replacement operation will continue weekly Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is expected to be completed mid-November. During construction, drivers are asked to allow for extra travel time, exercise caution and observe reduced speeds within the construction zone.

The work between mileposts 234 and 253 will require alternating lane restrictions in both directions and intermittent shoulder closures during work hours to provide a safe work zone for maintenance crews. No delays are expected.

Paving work on Interstate 17 south of SR 169 scheduled next week

adot-logo3Motorists traveling next week between Phoenix and Flagstaff need to plan ahead, be alert for work zones and allow extra travel time due to a pavement improvement project that is entering its final stages along Interstate 17, midway between Cordes Junction and Camp Verde.

Work hours have primarily been overnight, but starting on Tuesday, Sept. 16, crews will begin applying the new top layer of rubberized asphalt, which is temperature sensitive and needs to be completed during daytime hours.

Drivers can expect I-17 to be narrowed to one lane in each direction between the Dugas Road/Orme Road exit and the State Route 169 junction (mileposts 269-279) from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. during weekdays (Monday through Thursday) through the end of this month.

In addition, the I-17 on- and off-ramps at the SR 169 interchange will be closed intermittently beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14 through 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15. Delays of up to 30 minutes are possible.
