Dems cry ‘obstructionists’ while House passed over 350 bills that sit on Harry Reid’s desk

stuck-in-senateThe U.S. House of Representatives has passed 356 bills that are languishing in the Senate, U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn. said Friday.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has ignored the legislation, even though much of it passed the House with key support from Democrats The Blaze reported.

“We are calling on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to get off his self-constructed throne, roll up his sleeves and get back to work.” Blackburn said in a post she co-wrote Thursday with U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers, R-N.C., for HerBlog. “Real lives, a real economy, and a true American recovery hang in the balance.”

White House Senior Adviser Daniel Pfeiffer blasts Republicans over lawsuit

Daniel_PfeifferWhite House adviser Daniel Pfeiffer sent out an email blasting Republicans for filing a lawsuit over the illegal use of Executive Orders by the current administration.

Executive orders are not a Constitutional power granted to the President. They are not even mentioned in the Constitution. Executive orders were used first by President George Washington to instruct cabinet members on the manner in which they were to enforce laws passed by Congress. Neither he, nor his successors—until Woodrow Wilson—used executive orders to make laws.

The ability of executive order and bureaucracies to create law was ruled unconstitutional in the decision of Gibbons v. Ogden, 22 U.S. 1 (1824). In Paragraph 146 of the decision Chief Justice John Marshall wrote:

…for the power which is exclusively delegated to Congress, can only be exercised by Congress itself, and cannot be sub-delegated by it.

Pfeiffer’s email reads:

The House of Representatives just took a vote — and it wasn’t to raise the minimum wage, put in place equal pay, create jobs, or reform our broken immigration system.

Instead, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives just voted to sue the President for using his executive authority. This lawsuit will waste valuable time and potentially millions of
taxpayer dollars.

This is the least productive Congress in decades. And instead of doing their job, they are suing the
President for doing his.

The President is committed to making a difference for the millions of hardworking Americans trying to do right by their families and communities. While Republicans in Congress continue to waste taxpayer money, this President is going to keep doing his job.

If you’re doing your own job — and you support President Obama doing his — add your name.

President Obama remains ready and willing to work with Republicans in Congress if they decide to get serious and do something for the American people. But he is also committed to acting even as Congress won’t. You’ve seen that time and time again this year — from raising the federal minimum wage on new federal government contracts, to expanding apprenticeship opportunities and making student loan payments more affordable.

The President is not going to back away from his efforts to use his authority to solve problems and help American families. In fact, tomorrow, President Obama will announce his next executive action to crack down on federal contractors who put workers’ safety and hard-earned pay at risk. It’s just the next in a series of steps this Administration will be taking this year to make sure that American workers are getting a fair deal, and he has pledged to take executive action to deal with our broken immigration system in the months ahead.

That’s what this President is focused on. If you want to see it continue, and are sick and tired of stunts like the House Republicans’ lawsuit, then say so:

Republicans speak out on Tom Horne-gate

ATTORNEY GENERALOpinion by Glen Davis

Recent revelations about an extramarital affair by Republican Tom Horne have caused the Republican party to speak out.

Some have attempted to blow it off with a comparison to South America. That happens all of the time in Brazil. Or the same caparison to European politicians. If a European politician doesn’t have a mistress there is something wrong with him. Oh, it’s so cosmopolitan they cry.

What a man does in the privacy of his own room is his own business, Republicans are quick to add.

The Republicans are stressing that the Federalist Papers make it clear that a misdemeanor is not impeachable unless it violates our national security.

clinton-lewinskyOh, I am sorry. I got my stories confused. The same people that are running ads encouraging people to call Tom Horne to urge him to drop out of the race are the same people that used those statements to defend the extramarital affair of Bill Clinton with Monica Lewinsky in 1996.

And the media—especially in Arizona—is loving to hate. The same media that defended Bill Clinton’s extramarital affair is going after Tom Horne like he was investigating the death of four Americans in Africa.

AZfamily.com did report that Horne paid the $300 fine for the misdemeanor hit-and-run. The article quotes Horne as saying,

The vehicle’s owner stated the car already had a dent that the federal agents who noted the incident wrongly assumed I caused. Had I known there were scratches, I would have left my name and contact information so that I could have taken care of this personally.

He apparently pleaded not guilty to the affair (pun intended) back in November of 2012, however.

The intent of this oped is not to defend extramarital affairs by anyone. They are wrong.

I do have a problem with the States’ Attorney General not leaving a note no matter how small the accident might seem. The one thing that the Federalists of old assured the people is that everyone would be obligated to follow the laws that were passed by Congress—including Congressmen. Except, of course, for the Obamadoesntcare mandates.

Of course Arizona politicians from Flake to Salmon (and of course Democrats) are asking Horne to step aside. If Horne does not step down it could impact the party which McCain and Flake have so carefully maintained as the bastion of Republican ideals which our founder espoused.

The problem is that people cannot seem to see the hypocrisy of the position of the media because the media apparently does not deliver historic context to their iPads. Voters cannot be bothered by anything beyond the latest episode of Twilight or latest scripted reality series.

Tom can always apologize to his mistress in 17 years, or so.

Mystery flight MH370 wins over Benghazi at CNN 239 to 4

Jeff Zucker is moving from MSNBC to head this nation’s last bastion of television journalism—AKA, CNN. The new head at CNN will not be shamed, however, into covering what the fine folks at Media Matters calls “the Benghazi hoax.” The answers, according to them, can be found in a report by an “independent” investigation convened by then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (PDF).

The Washington Post agrees.

Select committees make for good theater and often uncover important facts. But in the national security arena, the independent commissions that have probed the most shocking security lapses — including the 2001 attacks and several devastating bombings of U.S. embassies — have a better record of conducting impartial investigations and bringing about landmark reforms.

The report does not mention a YouTube video that had about ten hits prior to being linked as the cause of the 911 attack in Benghazi.

Doug Ducey Lurches Left

Doug_Ducey_-_Arizona_State_TreasurerSonoran Alliance March 28, 2014 by arizonaprogressgazette The Conservative’s Corner

It has been said that you can’t choose your family, but you can choose your friends. That’s why so many people say it is unfair to judge someone by what a family member does. On the other hand, it is also why so many people look long and hard at the advisers and staff members that elected officials hire.

When Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema hired an illegal alien who was fortunate enough to be granted deferred action through President Obama’s DACA program, she was making a point. When House Speaker John Boehner hired an advisor who led John McCain’s push for amnesty, it too sent a message.

Perhaps that is why Arizona politicos pay so much attention to the various hires made by the candidates running for Governor, and who is supporting whom at this early stage?

Democrats release attack against veteran of Iraq running for Congress

Photo – Home of Heroes web site.

NEW YORK – Democrats—who have probably never served in the military—fired off an attack at Major Lee Zeldin who is seeking a seat in the House of Representatives in the State of New York. The attack seems to highlight the fact that he could actually unseat six-term Democrat Congressman Tim Bishop.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee issued a press release on May 14 complaining That Zeldin will not answer questions over how he would vote on the Paul Ryan budget or the extension of unemployment benefits.

Over a month after his House Republicans passed Paul Ryan’s reckless budget, Congressional Candidate Lee Zeldin is still too scared to admit how he would vote for the plan, even though he wants Long Islanders to send him to Congress. Even though every member of Congress had no choice but to vote yes or no weeks ago, what’s taking him so long to decide? There’s only one answer: Zeldin is either woefully uninformed, willfully ignorant or a coward.

The press release went on to state:

To help Zeldin find the courage to take a position on the Ryan Budget and other critical issues impacting Long Island, the DCCC is sending him the same Badge of Courage the Wizard of Oz gave to the Cowardly Lion.

Zeldin responded to the attack on FOX News stating, “You have some liberal Democrat hack who’s hiding behind his Twitter account, stuffing his face with Cheez Doodles, sending out press releases on D triple-C letterhead—shameful attacks—and the fact is Nancy Pelosi, Steve Israel, Tim Bishop, they’ve never served a day.

“And I think when I was sitting at the door on that Blackhawk and the Jump Master hits the back of your head and you do what’s so unnatural, jumping out with your parachute; here you are fast-forward to today, and you have, you know, these Democratic hacks out of Washington who want to change the subject and fling insults saying I’m a coward. It just doesn’t fit.”

According to a New York Times opinion by retired Lieutenant General Karl W. Eikenberry, since obligatory service has not been used since Vietnam, the percentage of the American population serving in the military has dropped to less than 0.5% since WWII.

Less than 0.5 percent of the population serves in the armed forces, compared with more than 12 percent during World War II. Even fewer of the privileged and powerful shoulder arms. In 1975, 70 percent of members of Congress had some military service; today, just 20 percent do, and only a handful of their children are in uniform.

Democrats have, in the past, complained that the military is the only job opportunity for the poor segment of society putting the burden of protecting the country on them. Their main focus to change that is to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour.

In testimony before the Senate, Congressional Budget Officer Douglas W. Elmendorf stated:

Increasing the minimum wage would have two principal effects on low-wage workers. Most of them would receive higher pay that would increase their family’s income, and some of those families would see their income rise above the federal poverty threshold. But some jobs for low-wage workers would probably be eliminated, the income of most workers who became jobless would fall substantially, and the share of low-wage workers who were employed would probably fall slightly.

It is unclear how many workers would be raised into a higher tax-bracket eliminating any benefit from an increase in the minimum wage.

Lee Zeldin is a New York State Senator who was a member of the 82nd Airborne paratroopers. He also served for a time with the Military Intelligence Corps at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Zeldin seeks the Congressional seat for the district in New York covering Long Island which could unseat six-term Congressman Tim Bishop.

17-Yr-Old Girl Who Wants to Actually Represent the People Just Unseated a Politician in W. Virginia

Saira Blair may become the youngest legislator in West Virginia history.

Saira Blair, who just unseated an incumbent West Virginia state legislator, isn’t thinking about her plans for the summer. She’s thinking about how to defeat Democrat Layne Diehl come November. Because if Saira wins, it will make her the youngest legislator in West Virginia’s history- she’s just 17 years old.

Blair narrowly edged-out the incumbent, Republican state Delegate Larry Klump, by 144 votes. She campaigned on a straightforward platform:

  • Pro-life
  • Pro-gun
  • Pro-family
  • Pro-business
  • Pro-jobs

Blair even gave out her cell phone number to any potential constituents who might want to ask her questions. In addition, Blair has pledged to run only a positive campaign.

Obama Urges “Wrongheaded” Americans to Trust Government More

The true theory of our Constitution is surely the wisest and best, that the states are independent as to everything within themselves, and united as to everything respecting foreign nations. Let the general government be reduced to foreign concerns only, and let our affairs be disentangled from those of all other nations, except as to commerce, which the merchants will manage the better the more they are left free to manage for themselves, and our general government may be reduced to a very simple organization, and a very unexpensive one–a few plain duties to be performed by a few servants.—Thomas Jefferson

120905_barack_obama_ap_605Paul Joseph Watson, Infowars.com, May 9, 2014

During a speech at a fundraiser for congressional Democrats in La Jolla, California yesterday, President Barack Obama urged “wrongheaded” Americans to place more trust in the government.

Obama stated that a perception on behalf of middle class families that people in Washington did not care about them has reinforced “apathy or a lack of confidence in our government,” before he went on to blame Republicans for making Americans think, “they’re on their own and government doesn’t have an appropriate role to play.”

Obama said the Democrats’ goal in the midterms was to “break that grip” and reverse the “wrongheaded vision” that big government is not the answer.

John McCain to host Hillary Clinton in Sedona, Ariz.

In a statement released Thursday, McCain called Clinton “my friend” and praised her public service career.

Opening Of The Center For The IntrepidSince leaving the State Department last year, Hillary Rodham Clinton has racked up scores of accolades and appeared on many a big stage. Still, it might come as a surprise that a past Republican presidential nominee — specifically, the one who is among the loudest critics of Clinton’s handling of the Benghazi terrorist attacks — would invite her to his desert retreat for a lofty conversation about leadership values.

This is precisely what Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has done.

Clinton, a prospective 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, will appear on stage Saturday with McCain at the Sedona Forum, an annual ideas festival hosted by the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University. Clinton is among the national and international business leaders, philanthropists and public figures appearing at the gathering, held in Sedona, the tony red-rocks oasis in Arizona’s Verde Valley.

In a statement released Thursday, McCain called Clinton “my friend” and praised her public service career.

Montana Congressional candidate shoots down a drone.

matt-rosendale4MONTANA – Congressional candidate Matt Rosendale shoots down a drone in his campaign ad. Just to prove a point.

Whether or not it garners him any votes, it certainly might resonate in the western States on the heels of the Bundy Ranch incident in Nevada. The incident brought out militia members from around the country alongside citizens and legislators from various States. The rock band Madison Rising appeared to perform at the site.

The action caused a Legislative Summit on the Transfer of Public Lands in Salt Lake City which included at least nine western States.

Drones have been a sore point since they have been appearing as part of the surveillance network and was used to kill an American citizen overseas.
