EPCOR Water – Chaparral City Water Company applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the discharge of up to one (1) million gallons per day (mgd) of WTP process water from the Shea Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to an unnamed wash tributary to Cereus Wash, tributary to the Verde River in the Verde River Basin in Township 3N, Range 6 E, Section 21, in Maricopa County, Arizona. The Shea WTP is a privately owned public water system that treats surface water from the Central Arizona Project Canal and is served to the public for domestic and municipal purposes. Sludge from the lagoon is dried and approximately once a year hauled to a landfill for disposal.

The City of Mesa applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the discharge of up to 8 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated process wastewater from the SEWRP to the East Maricopa Floodway, tributary to the Gila River in the Middle Gila River Basin in Township 1S, Range 6E, Section 12, in Maricopa County, Arizona. The SEWRP is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential, commercial, and industrial sources in Mesa. Residual solids from the SEWRP are conveyed via pipeline to the Greenfield Water Reclamation Plant or the Sub Regional Operating Group’s 91st Avenue Waste Water Treatment Plant for disposal.

Town of Patagonia applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 0.11 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater from the Town of Patagonia Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to Sonoita Creek, tributary to the Santa Cruz River in the Santa Cruz River Basin in Township 7 S, Range 6 E, Section 32, in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The Town of Patagonia WWTP is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential and commercial sources in Patagonia. Sludge is stabilized in an aerobic digester and sludge belt filter press dewatering system. Dewatered sludge in the form of pressed cake is sent to the Patagonia Municipal Landfill for disposal.

The City of Willcox WWTP is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential and commercial sources in Willcox. Sludge is accumulated at the bottom of the lagoons and will be removed when necessary by dredging and thickening, and disposed off site in accordance with state and federal regulations.
